Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Q: What will my first visit be like?
A: You will fill out a comprehensive intake and medical history form. This will take 15-30 minutes depending on the complexity of your medical history. Please fill out your Clinic Policies and New Patient intake form prior to coming to your initial visit or plan to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
Your initial visit with our physicians will usually take 1 hour. At that time, we will discuss your primary medical concerns, past medical history, medical interventions, diet, lifestyle and find out more about who you are as a person. The doctor will perform an appropriate physical exam. He or she may collect labs at this time in office or send you home with labs to perform at home and send in via mail. They may also make initial treatment suggestions or wait until lab values are in.
Q: Do you bill insurance?
A: Yes, we are contracted providers for the following health plans:
Regence Blue Cross/ Blue Shield
Providence
Aetna
Cigna (Dr. Thom only)
Samaritan health plans
Lifewise
PacificSource
Just because we are contracted with your insurance provider is not a guarantee of payment. Your insurance plan needs to have naturopathic benefits. You can check with your insurance on the details of your benefits by using the How to check your insurance benefits form. Our staff can also check for you. You are responsible for knowing the coverages and exclusions of your insurance plan.
Q: Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?
A: No, Naturopathic Physicians cannot contract with Medicare at this time and we choose not to contract with Medicaid. However, we do offer a 40% discount off our standard fee schedule for both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
Q: Are supplement prescriptions covered by insurance?
A: No, supplements and certain out of network labs that may be requested by your physician are not covered by insurance companies. If you have a health savings account (HSA), this can typically be used to cover these expenses.
Q: Will the physicians at Core Vitality work with my primary care physician and /or specialist?
A: Yes, at the patients request, we are happy to contact your other providers to coordinate care.
Q: Why is there a $50.00 fee assessed for “no shows” to appointments and cancellations within 24 hours?
A: We reserve 1 hour for each patient in order give detailed personal attention and the best medical care. To continue this benefit, we need patients to keep their scheduled appointments. Please cancel or reschedule with at least 24 hours notice (48 hours if over a weekend). Emergencies do come up and we will make circumstantial exceptions for this. See Clinic Policies.
